Himachal Pradesh is situated in the Western Himalayas and it is a mountainous state. The word Himachal is made of two words Him means ‘snow’ and achal means ‘land’. It is India’s least corrupt state. Tourism is a major source of the state’s economy and growth. It is a multireligious, multicultural as well as a multilingual state.
The state has a number of beautiful Hill stations like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Chamba, Khajjiar, Kullu and Kasauli which draws attention from both domestic as well as foreign tourists. Tourism is the major contributor to the state’s economy.
The State also has many holy Hindu sites and temples such as Naina Devi Temple, Bajreshwari Mata Temple, Chintpurni, Baijnath Temple, Bhimakali Temple, Jakhoo Temple, Bijli Mahadev, and Manimahesh Lake. The state also has some of the oldest Buddhist Monasteries.
The state is also known for its adventure tourism activities like ice skating, paragliding, rafting, skiing, boating, trekking, horse riding, and fishing. Shimla is Asia’s only natural ice skating rink.
Himachal has three domestic airports in Kangra, Kullu and Shimla districts which connects it with Delhi and Chandigarh.
